Petsearchers Canada’s “Lost Pet Search Fund” has recently been added to our program in order to allow us to help as many pets as possible. We receive numerous calls each week requesting assistance in helping locate lost and missing furry family members, and though we donate or subsidize the cost of as many searches as we can each month, unfortunately the demand is much greater than we can afford to offset on a regular basis.
"TRUFFLE'S STORY" An example how important donations are!
We got a call at 10:30 pm regarding a special needs 7 lb toy poodle lost in Everett Crowley Park in Vancouver, which is heavily populated with coyotes. The owner couldn’t afford our fee, but Al would have never been able to sleep knowing that little dog was lost and alone – and would make a tasty treat for a coyote. The owner contributed a portion towards the fee, and Al went out at midnight. Even though there had been dozens of people looking for Truffle since she went missing at 1:30 pm without success, Al and Jed were able to locate her and by 2 am Truffle was safe and sound and on her way back home. We know its unlikely Truffle would have survived the night between the cold and the predators.
The search fund has been set up to allow Petsearchers Canada to offer our services to pet owners or rescues that are unable to afford hiring us for assistance in locating their lost pets. Every search has expenses involved, including gas, bridge tolls, printing etc, and sometimes our hounds are tied up doing a free or low cost search and therefore unable to take on a paying job.
We know without a doubt, each pet owner we have worked with knows that Petsearchers Canada always goes far and beyond our publicized services in the search for their missing pet, and the posted guidelines of our services fall very short of what we actually offer on an ongoing basis. While we cannot offer a guarantee that we can get any lost pet home, we can guarantee the best odds of success in getting a lost pet home with our help.
From Truffle’s owner:
“Hi Al and Alesha,
I am just wanting to thank both of you for your kindness and generosity in helping me with finding Truffle. For you to receive my desperate call at 10:00 p.m. and come all the way into Vancouver from Langley, to meet me at the park where I felt Truffle was, was just like I was being sent an Angel, I cannot thank you enough.
And of course the Amazing Al is an Angel in my opinion and I am sure many others. I also swear Al is part Bloodhound himself.
To have witnessed the way in which Al went into the thickets and walked on top of them saying “it’s actually not that bad” and into areas that most men and even most animals would not attempt was what it must of been like to watch Moses part the Red Sea, I was awe struck and felt such confidence and hope because of how sure he seemed, he didn’t even have to say anything, it was his actions that spoke volumes.
I saw him go further and further into the woods, all I could see was the beam from his flashlight moving around, he came out once and went back through even thicker brush and then I heard the magic words…I’ve got her!!! Words cannot describe the joy and relief I felt, as I am sure Truffle did too, the poor little sweetie is a Toy Poodle weighing less than 7lbs and is mentally a special needs dog, If not for Al, I fear to even imagine what could of happened to my baby.
I cannot thank you enough Al for all you did for Truffle and I, I will be forever grateful to yourself and Alesha.
To have spotted that one little black eye reflecting back at you in the dead of night with it having snowed and all that reflecting, not to mention with Truffle being mostly hidden by brush and being all black herself, you clearly have a special gift, you are an Earth Angel and may you and yours be forever blessed.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
